TODAY'S GOSPEL: Matthew 6:1-6 16-18

The Gospel of Matthew reminds us that the 46 days of Lent is supposed to prepare us for the Paschal Mystery. Prayer centers us in our relationship with God. Fasting and penance leads to greater spiritual freedom so we can commit to our mission. And works of mercy is the action of our mission. As we begin the Lenten Season today with Ash Wednesday, let us repent and return to God, and ask for the renewal of the grace of the Cross and Resurrection. We also pray for peace in Ukraine and the conversion of Russia.
