This striking drone footage shows the extensive signage work Widd Signs completed on large-scale projects within the Liverpool city centre. Liaising directly with Liverpool County Council to ensure that specification of signage was consistent, our team of in-house designers then provided the creative artwork for each project.
Paddington Village
The works completed at Paddington Village are part of a £1bn investment in the Knowledge Quarter area of Liverpool.
MSCP - Main Contractor: Morgan Sindall Group, Architect: KKA
The new 1,250-space multi-storey car park not only services Paddington Village but also meets the demand for parking across the wider Knowledge Quarter Innovation District.
Signage supplied:
• 2 sets of built-up aluminium letters, painted to a high marine grade (due to the proximity to the river Mersey), faced in opal acrylic and illuminated via high specification Sloane LED modules reading: “PADDINGTON VILLAGE” (letters made 465mm high) and “CAR PARK” (letters made 1250mm high.) Installed on the 10th storey on two elevations.
• “Entrance” and “Exit” letters made from built-up aluminium, painted to a high marine grade and faced in opal acrylic - illuminated via high specification Sloane LED modules.
• 2 internally illuminated flexface signs, 1800mm square with “P” (parking logo) white out of a blue background
• 231 traffic management, traffic directional, directory and floor level indicators, consisting of white powder-coated aluminium panels with reflective graphics
The Spine: Main Contractor: Morgan Sindall Group, Architect: AHR
Located at the heart of Paddington Village, Knowledge Quarter Liverpool, The Spine is the new northern home for The Royal College of Physicians (RCP). Standing at 500ft above sea level, it is recognised as one of the tallest office buildings in Liverpool!
Signage supplied:
• 2 sets of rimless built-up aluminium letters and logos, painted to a high marine grade finish, faced in opal acrylic and illuminated via high specification Sloane LED modules - with an overall height of 1932mm.
The signage was mounted to galvanised steel support frames, painted to a specific RAL and installed at the very top of this 14storey building! Due to the difficulty with access for this project, the framework was designed in sections to be transported by hand up 14 levels of stairwell!
Each letter was fitted with additional rows of high-specification Sloane LEDs so that if one set failed the other set could be switched on to ensure continuity of illumination as external access for maintenance of the letters would require expensive specialist truck-mounted access equipment or an abseiling team.
