People gathered in Digby, N.S. on March 6, 2022, to show their support and solidarity for the people of Ukraine. A workshop to teach people how to make Ukrainian Pysanky eggs was led by Diane Axent, whose family has Ukrainian heritage. Axent has made thousands of these eggs in her lifetime, which, she says, are made to spread goodness in the world.
The event served as a fundraiser for the Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, launched after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. At early count, more than $4,500 was raised.
