A cyclorama is a photographic background where the floor meets the walls in a curve which gives the illusion of going to infinity.
This cyclorama was built in our newest studio. It is 24' wide and 12' deep. It is formed with subfloor of 3/4 tongue and groove plywood placed directly on the concrete floor. A wall of 2x4 construction was built to for the back wall, principally to "hide" the ventilation pipe above. The final surface is luan, 1/4" plywood screwed to the wall and subfloor. The curve is simply the same luan plywood bent into place.
While this time lapse doesn't show the final steps - the screw holes are filled with M&H Putty, sanded, and then the whole wall is painted. We use primer, and simply repaint the wall frequently.
The Studio of Photographic Arts (SOPHA - www.theSOPHA.com) is a busy photographic community and rental studio in Manchester, NH.
