On Monday, just after 3 p.m., Suffolk police were called to a two-vehicle crash on Route 58 close to the Franklin bypass.
When officers arrived, they found that a box truck was traveling eastbound when it hit a truck that was working with crews paving part of Route 58.
The only person in the box truck, 58-year-old Stephan Travis Claude, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
