This video is about another iconic Super Touring Car of the late '90s/early 2000s: the Honda Accord. This particular example is a chassis built in 2000 for Danish legend Tom Kristensen and his BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) campaign of the same year with the factory Redstone x JAS Motorsport Honda factory team after two years behind the wheel of a JAS Motorsport Accord in the German Super Tourenwagen Cup.
This Accord STW was built and developed by Foss-Tech. Thanks to the double victory obtained by Kristensen during the last round of the 2000 BTCC season at Silverstone, this car holds the distinction of having won the last ever BTCC races run under Super Touring regulations, which were replaced in 2001 by the new BTC-T class.
Under the hood there's a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine built by Niel Brown Engineering, able to produce 320 hp and rev up to 8,500 rpm. It should be derived from Honda's H22A engines, destroked from 2.2 liters to 2.0 liters, which at first were developed for the British Formula 3 championship in 1994.
Watch it in action on Goodwood hillclimb course during the 2022 Festival of Speed driven by Stewart Whyte who managed to clock a time of 52''86 in the official Sunday's Shootout!
