The Mellau cable car heads to Kanisfluh mountain at 2.044 m in just 6 minutes. To quote Reinhard Haller, who has its own special nickname for the Kanisfluh mountain - "The Fortress" - The Kanisfluh, "one of the most beautiful mountains in all the Alps. Viewed from the villages at her base, she gives the impression of being a mighty fortress and a great protector. Seen from the valley, she seems to stand guard over the entire region. Contemplated from afar, she proudly conjures up the spirit of the Alps."

⬛ ABOUT THE BREGENZ FOREST - BREGENZERWALD
The Bregenzerwald - Bregenz Forest, is a forested mountain range in western Austria. The range, part of the Allgäuer Alps, is drained by the Bregenzer stream (Ache) and has been partly deforested. Its hilly foothill area towards the city of Bregenz supports pasture and dairy farming. In the long-stretched linear villages many of the characteristic Bregenzerwald farmsteads of the 18th and 19th centuries have been conserved. They reflect in their shapes and styles the economic history of the country and the early onset of industrial development in Vorarlberg. A number of villages, such as Schwarzenberg or Schoppernau, still have some fine examples of original Forest Houses ("Walderhauser"). They showcase the largest and most uniform housing landscapes of Vorarlberg. The wooden buildings, covered by characteristic shingle roofing, determine the appearance of the cultural landscape.
