It's very important to set the right idle speed for your aircooled VW. An incorrectly set idle can cause the engine not to idle at all, run rough, consume fuel excessively or even overheat in traffic.
In this video we go through the process for setting the idle speed on your aircooled VW. This is somewhat dependent on your engine and carb, but 850 rpm - 1000 rpm is a good ballpark.
Before starting, make sure your engine is fully warmed up, properly timed and that there are no vacuum leaks.
