Boris Johnson has “gone from basically fighting for his life two weeks ago to bringing a new life into the world", according to Sky News host Peter Gleeson.
The UK prime minister and his partner Carrie Symonds have announced the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital.
Both mother and baby are reported to be doing well.
Mr Johnson only recently resumed his full duties as prime minister following his recovery from the coronavirus.
Scott Morrison was one of the first to offer his congratulations on twitter, saying there was “nothing better than being a dad”.
