Sharp claws, powerful limbs, or fangs are attributes dragonflies certainly do not have. However, these flying insects are exceptionally skilled in hunting their prey and succeed almost 100% of the time. They ambush their prey in the air with incredible precision without needing to chase after small bugs or mosquitos.
Dragonflies lay their eggs in water, and when the larvas hatch, they remain underwater for 2 to 6 years depending on the habitat. During this time, they will molt up to 17 times before transforming into the dragonflies we see in the air.
Dragonflies have inspired humans to create new technology because of their excellent flight skills and incredible vision. Drones and artificial visual systems have been developed by engineers in a bid to replicate the amazing capabilities of a dragonfly.
