New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb has been sworn in, making her the first woman to hold the top spot.
Ms Webb returned to the small country town of Boorowa in the state's southwest, where she grew up, to be appointed as the state's newest top cop.
A ceremony was held at Boorowa Central School - where she attended as a child - to mark the occasion.
The decision to appoint Ms Webb as the new police commissioner was the first of Premier Dominic Perrottet's tenure.
He praised her for her efforts and service to the police force to date.
