Video report (spoken in Greek) by Doros Partasides for Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation's weekly Proektasis Program targetting the Cypriot Diaspora -- about the annual demonstration, this year marking the 34th year since the Greek Junta coup against Archbishop Makarios, and the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, which followed.
However, while Cyprus joined the EU 4 years ago, some 60000 Turkish troops remain on the 37% of the island which continues to be occupied by Turkey, with hundreds of thousands of Turkish settlers still altering the demographic structure (with the number of settlers now having exceeded that of the Turkish Cypriots in the occupied part) of Cyprus -- this being the subject of the demonstration outside the Turkish Embassy in London, the march through central London to a "Rally for Justice for Cyprus" at London's Trafalgar Square.
