Tight Line Nymphing for Wild Trout in the Smoky Mountains

Today we return to Scotts Creek to fish for trout in a section that I have never fished before. Most of the fish in this section are wild because of the how hard it would be to get down to stock them. I'm sure there are some that have migrated up or down, but with the size and behavior of the fish I have been catching there seems to be a breeding population of rainbow trout. Which is just fine by me.

Air temps have been higher than normal for the past week and today it was in the mid 50s, raising water temps. With a storm coming in on Sunday night it was a perfect storm for a good day - and a good day it was!

Reel: Redington IQ

Fly Line: Rio Products Trout LT DT 4wt

Leader Build: 20 feet of 15lb Pline floroclear, to umpqua indicator 3x

Tippet Build: 2 feet 3x to another 2 feet 3x to 1 foot 5x with tags for
flys clinch knotted to main tippet of 5x at knots.
