The Teaching Service Commission will have to explain why it has taken a decision to cease acceptance of applications for teaching jobs effective September 30th, 2021.
This from Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Clarence Rambharat, who addressed the matter during the Urgent Question period of Friday's sitting of the Upper House.
Opposition Senator Wade Mark questioned why the announcement of a cut-off date came from the Teaching Service Commission and not the Ministry of Education.
Senator Rambharat sought to clear the air on the issue.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Teaching Service Commission announced that effective September 30th, unsolicited applications for positions will no longer be accepted.
It added that vacancies within the Teaching Service will be advertised on a needs basis, and persons will be invited to apply for positions in keeping with such advertisements.
