2.5 half years of self sufficiency chicken farming has really been a journey of mistakes, lessons and success.
In this video we share with you the mistakes that we made and the lessons we have learnt. As a beginner self suffiency chicken farmer, avoid making the mistakes we did and also implement the lessons we have shared with you on this video to succeed.
We discuss the mistakes one can make while building the chicken coop. It's important to have comfortable, well ventilated, easy to clean and good size chicken coop while anticipating the number of chicken you will end up with that can sustain your family in terms of eggs and meat.
Mistake two is having the wrong breed. We initially had difficulty getting the right breed and we wanted 100 percent indigenous breed which nowadays is very rare. We also discuss the reasons why having the right chicken breed is important.
The other mistake we is assuming that we can turn from self-sufficiency farmers into commercial farmers just because the number of chicken on our farm had grown. We also discuss why this is not a good idea.
The other big mistake a beginner self sufficiency farmer can make is to assume that it is "easy work". We have discussed in detail why this assumption is wrong. We have also discussed the various chores and daily tasks on a self sufficiency chicken farm.
We have also discussed the 3 lessons we learnt in detail. These lessons are key to self sufficiency chicken farming and will determine whether one can be a successful self sufficiency chicken farmer or a failed one.
We hope you enjoy the video. We will also appreciate your comments on your own experience and also if you feel there are other mistakes to avoid or lessons that you also have learnt.
For those who are beginners in self sufficiency chicken farming, we want to wish you all the best and hope that this video will be helpful in you journey.
