AKIRA is a 1988 anime film adapted from the (unfinished) manga of the same name. It's frequently regarded as a milestone in not just anime but the entire animation field, due to the various ground-breaking techniques it used that made the movie look amazing. It's kind of hard to explain it without spoiling it, but it's about a dude named Kaneda and his mate Tetsuo, who get caught up in some sussy government stuff like messing with psychic abilities that kind of accidentally destroy entire cities omg spooky :( ). It's also very disturbing, with it's use of body horror being one of the best to this date. It's a great movie, and you should watch it.
