Here is the second wash I did when I was in the South Shore! I’m glad I came here after the first wash, as the one in Hingham wasn’t the greatest and it was kinda sus as well…
This is one of 3 Super Shine locations here in Weymouth, with this one located in North Weymouth. The other 2 are located on Main Street in Weymouth, and all 3 locations are very similar to each other. 2 of the 3 offer Citgo Gas Stations, while the other is a stand-alone wash. In fact, most Super Shine locations have gas stations, excluding the first Main Street site in Weymouth, the South Boston and Hyde Park locations.
Super Shine Auto Wash also operates touchless automatics at some of their locations too. The locations that offer the touchless automatics are all 3 Weymouth locations, and the one in Braintree. The first Main Street location in Weymouth was formally just a tunnel wash, but when it was demolished and completely renovated, a touchless automatic was added on. All locations use WashWorld RAZORS, with the Braintree and 2 Weymouth locations replacing aging LaserWash 4000s.
Super Shine also had interesting tunnel wash setups. Most of their locations had really old and vintage Hanna or Hanna Sherman equipment in each of their tunnels. They even had Shammy Shiners, a rare chamois drying mitter made by Hanna/Hanna Sherman and it was very similar to Sonny’s Wipe-O-Matic, but instead of going in an oval, it went in a full circle motion. As for the dryers themselves, they mostly used Hanna Infinity dryers, but the Plymouth site used IDC dryers, while the former site in Randolph used old Sonny’s (no Shammy Shiner) and the first Weymouth location had a Superior Hurricane Drying system with ProtoVest SideShot units.
In between 2015-2017 to my knowledge, Super Shine started doing major renovations to their locations. They closed an additional location in Braintree (converted into a car sales building and lot) and one in Randolph (now a Prestige Car Wash site), while they renovated most of their locations. They switched over to FormulaFinish chemicals, removed the Shammy Shiners and old dryers and replaced them with Sonny’s dryers, or did an entire renovation to the tunnel, which is what this wash got.
This particular site was renovated a bit later, as it still had the OG Hanna equipment in 2016, but they did replace the LaserWash 4000 here in 2016 with a RAZOR, but didn’t redo the tunnel yet, until a few months later. They completely gutted the tunnel and installed all new Sonny’s equipment, and the set up includes a DoublePalooza foamers, SFM901 front to back mitter, side washers, wraps, SFM807 side to side mitter, rocker panel and wheel brushes, rinse/wax arches and dryers, with the last 2 still having Elephant Ear nozzles.
Chemicals are from FormulaFinish, including the Synthetic Hot Wax.
The wash shown in this video was the $25 “The Super Shiner” Wash which included:
*Exterior Car Wash
*Underbody Flush w/Rust Fighter
*Wheel & Tire Bright
*Extra Power Shower
*Foam Body Glaze
*Triple Foaming Polish
*Super High Gloss Hot Wax
*Clear Coat Protectant
Wash Quality: 11/10
Comments: this wash was so much better than the Hingham Car Wash! It did an excellent job and the thorough prep at the beginning was a plus as well. The dryers were probably the BEST I’ve seen so far, probably because the chemistry was set up correctly.
