Baroness Valerie Amos, the former UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, has warned that Israel's decision to ban the UN Palestinian aid agency from the country will impact millions of people in Gaza.
She told Sky News "millions are reliant on urgent humanitarian aid" and Israel's "collective punishment" of Palestinians in Gaza was not something "we as a world should be allowing to happen".
Israel's parliament voted on Monday to effectively ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency from operating in the country.
It says some employees in the organisation have links to Hamas.
Baroness Amos said UNRWA's employment processes were tightened in April.
She also warned that educational services to 500,000 Palestinian children would be halted if the ban goes ahead.
