(27 Apr 2020) Some Georgia restaurants were reopening for limited dine-in service as more restrictions against the coronavirus are loosened in the big Southern state.
Movie theaters on Monday can welcome customers and limited in-restaurant dining may resume.
Chris Heithaus manages 87 Waffle House restaurants in Georgia and the Carolinas.
He was among business owners who decided to resume dine-in services on Monday.
Heithaus says his Waffle House location in Savannah, Georgia can seat about 20 people while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
That's about half as many as there are seats.
"At the high counter, we have six seats," Heithaus says. "So only two of those seats are open because that keeps the six feet from the register."
This comes after other businesses, including barbershops, gyms, tattoo shops and nail salons, were allowed to start seeing customers Friday.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
