Australia has a serious problem with asylum seekers and refugees. I wrote this a year ago, after the Abbott Government turned away the boats of Rohingya asylum seekers, but it's just as true today. Today they announced they'l take an additional 12,000 refugees from Syria, which is a start but it's not nearly enough, and it doesn't address the fact that we still have thousands of people held in indefinite detention in Nauru and on Manus Island.
