Cazal Legends Sunglasses and Eyewear Review – by Posh Journal
Cazal sunglasses and eyewear are huge with movie stars and music moguls today and can be seen worn by everyone from Brad Pitt to Puff Daddy, Jay-Z and Will I Am. They were the go-to brand going back 30 years to the 1980s when hip-hop culture was taking over New York and the rest of the nation followed. At the time Run DMC were the “kings of rock”, and set the style with their Adidas track suits and gold chains. The Kangol hat and Cazal sunglasses rounded out the look and became iconic in their own right. The brand furthered its dominance of 1980s counter-culture when Mars Blackman sported Cazals as he accompanied Michael Jordan in some of the best Nike commercials of all-time. Cazal frames were bold, as was its design and the overall presence of the person wearing them. The Legends series from Cazal pays homage to this era and the style that reigned then and now.
Posh Journal was fortunate in that we received a pair to review and share our thoughts. The model that we chose has an awesome mix of black and gold, which some may say is their trademark look. The sunglasses are light yet very sturdy, and are yet another brand to live up to the solid reputation of German engineering. They wear well and block the sun better than the Prada shades that I also wear. I like the case as it has a sleek black on black design. The glasses come with a cool little booklet that talks about the Cazal Legends line and a little bit of their history, and a registration card (they take a stance against knock-offs.. good for them).
The Cazal company prides itself in their creativity design and pushing boundaries. From their website you can see sketches from the 1970s when they first came on the scene. It doesn’t look like they are slowing down any time soon. They have a wide range in designs as shown in our video but all of them have the commonality of making you stand out in a crowd. Cazal’s are more expensive than most brands of sunglasses and on average are in the $400 range (plus or minus $100), so if you sit on your shades or lose them every couple of months these might not be the best choice. I can see why the celebrities wear Cazals and if you don’t mind spending the extra cash these will definitely perfect a bold look and get you noticed.
