We struggled for a long time with foods for our puppers. We wanted the the best for them without having to take a second mortgage on the house. There were store brands and more expensive brands. Grain free types and every other dang type. When one of our dogs suddenly grew a allergy bump we knew we needed something different. Our vet recommended the beagle specific type of Royal Canin but the two pups we have that are beagle mixes didn't go for it. We tried this and hit the jackpot. There was less scratching and they didn't seem to be overly interested in their poop anymore - which is nice because...gross.(although eating poop is how canines in the wild get a great deal of their food intake) But this also means that the ingredients in this food are well digested and not a lot remains in the poop for our pups to get excited about. I was hesitant when it was recommended but the proof is in the pudding. Or poop in this case.
