Climbing Slippery Pole on Indonesian Independence Day: It's the 17 August - the most important day for Indonesian people. This day on 17 Augustus 1945 Indonesia got independent from Netherlands. The whole nation is happy and it's all about playing entertaining and funny games (serunya) with balloons, crackers for eating, running and everything else that is fun.
On that Indonesian Independence Day in Bali I was so excited to see the so called 'Panjat Pinang' Game where a bunch of Indonesian boys and men climb an oily pole. It's teamwork and quite challenging but a lot of fun to watch, especially if you are a foreigner and you have never seen this before.
If you have the chance to join the Indonesian Independence day in 2023, say those sentences to the locals. They will be happy 😇
