On October 12, 1997, John Denver couldn't contain his excitement to fly his newly acquired toy. But at 5:28 PM, something went terribly wrong. Eyewitnesses on the ground saw the plane flying about 500 feet above them when it sharply tilted to the right and went into a nose dive.
John Denver was an American folk singer and songwriter. He is known for popularizing acoustic folk music in the 1970s and had numerous hits including "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and "Rocky Mountain High."
