The all-new GLI improves on the base Jetta by adding power, handling, braking, but not a lot of cost.

The GLI’s mechanical limited-slip differential, called VAQ, transforms this hopped up Jetta from a torque-steering monster into a composed and surgical sports sedan. Paired with Volkswagen’s multilink suspension, it handles corners with ease and soaks up road imperfections. The 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque coming from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine matches what shoppers would find in a MINI Cooper John Cooper Works or a BMW X1, both of which cost significantly more than the GLI.
14.1 cubic feet of cargo space doesn’t do the GLI’s cavernous trunk justice. This sedan feels spacious and roomy in every dimension. The touchscreen infotainment system is fast and accurate, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included as standard equipment. The one technological shortcoming is the GLI’s standard driver information screen, which looks more like a microwave display than it should.
Pricing starts at $25,995 for a base S trim with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. A loaded Autobahn trim costs $29,195, making it significantly more affordable than the iconic GTI. For more information on the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, read Cliff’s full review on CarGurus: [ Ссылка ]
