A FEW THINGS:
- If I were flying against another human opponent, my strategy would be similar regarding energy conservation, but there would be some differences do to the nature\unpredictability of fighting another human pilot.
- If we were in a full-up engagement using Aim-9x's, my technique at the merge would have been VERY different do to the versatility of the Aim-9x and it's Off Boresight capabilities.
With THAT out of the way -
After my last video I received some requests for adding a Talk-Through or Voice Over of the engagement.
My Mic \ Audio issues have been fixed so I did an additional set where I talk through what my thinking is as I go into the engagement. Unless I am absolutely sure of securing a kill with an aggressive maneuver that would sacrifice speed for nose position, I'm learning to typically think further down the road conserving energy and eventually moving into an ideal firing position that allows me to stick with the bandit in the control zone, popping into position for a shot, then quickly returning to the control zone. This engagement didn't illustrate all of this as I saw my opportunity and was sure I could get a kill rather than waiting.
Still very much new and a student to this, but I'm learning lessons rapidly as a group of real world present and former fighter pilots show me more and more of the psychology/geometry/strategy behind real life BFM.
