Our reputation is one of the most valuable things we possess. We are to guard our reputation (that is, take care how we live our lives), but we are to leave it to God to defend it. Jesus gave up His reputation and left it in the hands of His Father. Because Jesus did not defend His reputation, God was able to highly exalt Him to an inestimable level. (Philippians 2:5-11)
