The male Cardinal arrived first, but the youngster was in the bushes not far away. The male didn't eat anything, but just sat there grooming and waiting for the younger bird to arrive. It did eventually, but only after the adult male left. Both males and females make sure the young birds are able to eat on their own before they leave them to their own devices.
