I just finished this small vintage Snap-on tool box restoration. This is my first time to restore a tool and I was very interested in trying it. I will try to restore more tools and items other than toys in the future.
The first time I really learned about Snap-on was a couple of months ago when I wanted to buy a tool box, and the prices were a big surprise! OMG, a 2’ X 3’ X 1’3” tool box is very expensive, as high as $5000-$6000.
Snap-on is a big brand name American company producing high-end tools and equipment for professional use in the transportation industry, including the automotive, heavy duty, marine, aviation, and railroad industries. The company is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was founded in 1920 by Joseph Johnson and William Seidemann. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Snap-on company. It makes sense for me to restore this little tool box to mark the occasion. :)
This small box looks like it should be easy to restore, but the actual restore process was still difficult and had some problems. The powder coating paint job is not perfect, some lines appear on the top surface of the box, and there is a little unevenness in the thickness of the powder coating. Unfortunately I could not find a suitable 1/4 inch ratchet and socket wrench set of the Snap-on brand for this tool box, so I had to buy another set of Craftsman products instead.
Thanks so much for watching and tell me what you think in the comments below.
If you have something you'd like me to restore, let me know, maybe I can do it.
