KC & The Sunshine Band exploded onto the disco scene with their eponymously named second album and the smash hits "Get Down Tonight" and "That's the Way I Like It" in the summer of 1975. One other single was issued "I'm So Crazy (Bout You) but it did not chart but was saved by the B side "Boogie Shoes". Belatedly, it was also the B side to "Shake Shake Shake (Shake Your Booty) in 1976.
Never promoted as a single, the song has earned an enduring quality and has appeared on a number of movie soundtrack collections, most notably the "Saturday Night Fever" album as well as appearing in the following films: "No Escape", "Mallrats", "Boogie Nights", "Detroit Rock City" and "The Wedding Date". TV also fell for its charms and "Sports Night", "Desperate Housewives", "Flash Forward" and "Pose" used "Boogie Shoes".
A few years later it was covered by 60's rocker Alex Chilton, whose gravelly voice had adorned the #1 Hot100 hit "The Letter" by the Box Tops. His version of "Boogie Shoes" appeared on his 1979 album "Like Flies on Sherbet".
The most recent performance of "Boogie Shoes" was by transgender teen Unique Adams played by Alex Newell for the Glee episode "Saturday Night Gleever".
I never found an extended remix, so I took a shot at it and here it is......You know what time it is, dontcha? Time to put on your boogie shoes on!
