We need to talk about decolonising the law. All across the world, people live with the impact of discriminatory, antiquated colonial laws.
In dozens of countries it is not a crime for a woman to be raped if the perpetrator is her husband; yet it remains a crime for LGBT+ people to engage in consensual, intimate relationships.
These absurd and harmful legal provisions were left by British colonisers hundreds of years ago. Now, they must be changed - for social justice and for healthier, happier, safer communities.
