Petty traders in downtown Kampala in the usually bustling Arua Park awoke to a shock as enforcement officers of the City Council Authority, beefed up by several police units, descended on their purportedly illegally-erected structures and razed them to the ground.
This is in a bid to what KCCA refers to as cleaning up the city.
Of recent, most of the pavements in Kampala City are being occupied by stalls of food and small item vendors, a trend KCCA says is not healthy.
The traders however complain that they were not given notice to relocate;
