The IBM InfoWindow 3471 was a 3270-compatible entry-level interactive display station for mainframes. It came with a choice of green or amber 14-inch 1920-character CRT monitor and a choice of various keyboards. This 102-key Enhanced Keyboard is the most standard choice, with other options including a 104-key "unsaver" form-factor keyboard with Micro Switch ST dome with slider switches or a 122-key Type III Model M122 "battlecruiser". Compared to previous similar terminals, the 3471 offered a smaller footprint and reduced power consumption.
This P/N 1394204 (Lexmark FRU 1394802, IBM feature code 9131) seems to be the most common of the available keyboards. It was produced in grey oval and blue oval badged flavours by IBM and Lexmark, however, a company by the name of C.E.I. Technical Services was known to have put their name to several part number converted boards that included silver square badged 1394204s made as late as 1998. My example is a 1995 Lexmark-made version. On the surface, it seems like an unremarkable terminal keyboard. But, purpose-made examples of 1394204 include elongated battlecruiser-style flip-out feet and a three-way cable router on the back, something seldom found with most Enhanced Keyboards! On the front, the combination 12-key F1-F24 key row is also a sweet visual feature of these! As with pretty much all 102-key terminal keyboards from IBM, these speak Set 3 and connect with a modular "RJ-45" connector.
