In "The question to Gazelle" our Gazelle experts deal with questions you have about bicycles and E-bikes.
This time we received a question from Isabel. Isabel cycles to and from work every day, in all weathers. She wonders to what extent the weather affects the condition of her bike and whether the bike can withstand a rough ride? Our Gazelle quality expert Iwan-Erik explains this to us.

To what extent does the weather affect the condition of my bike and can the bike withstand a rough ride?
In the Gazelle test lab we carry out all kinds of different tests to make sure the bike stays in top shape. In the test lab there is, for example, a salt spray tank, a vibratory track, a Multitester, a UV test, a frame test and a test track.
An entire bike is placed in the salt spray tank. During this process we check whether rust forms when the bike comes into contact with water and salt water.
With the vibrating test machine we can see if something is going to flap about on the bike and how we can prevent this.
The Multitester 4210 is an entire test bench where we test the whole bike. Here we look at how strong the bike is.
We use the UV tester for testing plastics. We put a piece of plastic in the machine and then investigate what happens to the plastic.
On the so-called Frame test bench we test the movements a person makes on the bike. This way of testing is most similar to what happens out in the field.
On the test track we test the braking distance, vibrations and also making sharp turns.
