The Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGA127 is a limited edition watch of 700 pieces. It pays tribute to the original Grand Seiko Automatic that was released in 1967.

This Grand Seiko is a part of the Spring Drive series, the highest level of technology from Seiko and found in one of the most traditional cases.

At 12.8mm thick, the watch is quite thin, classical and discrete. It features a sloped case flank and domed sapphire, allowing it to wear very thin on the wrist.

Even though the case if 40mm, it is the perfect modern size that combines classic design. The watch is also created using titanium, making it a light watch.

The bracelet is also titanium, and Seiko uses different polishing to create depth and texture. The center intermediate links are high polished while the flanking links and center links are brushed with a satin finish. There is also a slight high polish beveling across the shoulder of the outer links to create more contrast.

This attention to detail continues onto the dial where you'll find a lustrous blue dial. There is a slight step down from the crystal from a flange containing the minute and seconds markers providing a transition to the dial.

Looking at the dial, you'll find that the indicies are applied, polished and faceted, providing an extra attention to detail and a jewel-like finish.

The power reserve is traditionally slightly off centered, found at 8 o'clock. This function blends beautifully into the dial and is balanced by the date window at 3 o'clock.

The hands on this watch reflect light in an interesting way. They are satin across the top but are faceted and polished along the edges. In direct sunlight the dial explodes and reflects light in a beautiful way thanks to all the nuances across the blue dial.

The watch features hacking seconds and a quick set date function. The highlight of the movement is it's 3-day power reserve and it's spring drive. This spring drive regulates how quickly or slowly the regulator wheel rotates. This means that the wheel neither spins too quickly nor too slowly, keeping time exceptionally.
