A short walk from the ruins at Westerplatte, on the Westerplatte Peninsula near Gdańsk, stands an impressive monument dedicated to the defenders of the coast just prior to World War 2. It was unveiled in 1966, and is comprised of 236 granite blocks having a combined weight of over 1100 tons. The inscriptions and message of "No More War" strive to educate us about the brutality and loss that comes with wars fought everywhere.
