Turn your boring fully functional turn signals into cool turn signals.
This may be illegal where you live.

Tutorial for LED calculator:
- Vbat is the the domain and can be changed by dragging the black circle to the left. R is the resistor in series with the LED(s).
- Vled is the nominal forward voltage of the led, note the graph on the left is the the led voltage deviation by 5% since no LED has an identical forward voltage.
- nLEDinSeries is the number of LEDs connected in series, Note that increasing this value too much can sent the current into the negatives, this means the voltage isn't high enough to light all the LEDs.
- Vmin is the car's battery voltage when off.
- Vmax is the car's battery voltage when on and the alternator is active.
- VledMaxCurrent is the LED you're using maximum current. 5730, 1W and 3W LEDs have a max current of 150mA, 300mA and 700mA respectively.
- The purple region is the range of currents the LEDs will be seeing. It is okay to exceed the LED's and resistors rating simply because in a car's turn signals there on 50% of the time which stresses them half as much as it would if they were continuously on.

I have pasted two circuits here, one is the full simulations and another is a simple demo. In real life the capacitor discharges almost instantly during the off portion of the turn signal sequence, but Falstad treats capacitors as IDEAL capacitors and doesn't discharge them. This is why the demo is a little different than how it really looks. The full simulation has a artificial switch that discharges the capacitor during the off portion which in real life happens naturally so that part isn't something you have to build.
