The AMCI Free YouTube Course is a comprehensive medical coding certification preparation course aimed at helping self study students gain the knowledge and skills needed to pass certification exams like the CPC and CCS-P. It builds upon basic coding principals.

Pre-requisites:
Basic knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, Modifiers, Med term & A&P. Need the pre-requisites: Enroll in the AMCI Free i2MC Course: amcicoding.com/courses/i2MC
Course Features:
Delivered via YouTube channel, Instructor will guide students through the readings and assignments in the Buck's and MCG textbooks, and assign pertinent videos from the channel. Course covers advanced topics in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and medical coding guidelines. A certificate of completion will be provided upon successfully finishing the course.
*The Certificate of Completion issued for this course is not applicable toward: The 80 credit hours required for AAPC apprentice status removal (for CPC-A coders)
Required Textbooks:
Students must purchase the following textbooks before the course begins:
1. Carol Buck's Step-by-Step Textbook and Workbook (any year: 2023, 2024, or 2025).
2. ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Coding Manual (Optum recommended, current year).
3. CPT Procedure Coding Manual (AMA Professional, current year).
4. HCPCS Level II Manual (Optum recommended, current year).
5. AMCI MCG Manual 2024 or 2025 (digital exams and exam prep).

Key Notes about textbooks and the medical coding exams:
AAPC recommends using the current year's manuals.

Week 1: Introduction to ICD-10-CM Review (structure, conventions, and general guidelines)
Week 2: Sequencing Guidelines & Special Notes (e.g., etiology/manifestation rules, Excludes notes)
Week 3: Chapters 1–4 (Infectious Diseases, Neoplasms, Endocrine, Blood Disorders)
Week 4: Chapters 5–8 (Mental Health, Nervous System, Eye and Adnexa, Ear and Mastoid)
Week 5: Chapters 9–12 (Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, and Skin Systems)
Week 6: Chapters 13–16 (Musculoskeletal, Genitourinary, Pregnancy, Perinatal Conditions)
Week 7: Chapters 17–22 (Congenital Malformations, Symptoms/Signs, Injury, External Causes, Z Codes)
Week 8: The Tap Technique & Final ICD-10-CM Review (TAP is the acronym for Tab the guideline page, Annotate the guideline, and place the word Tap next to the code in the tabular list.
Weeks 9–16: Advanced CPT Guidelines and Applications
Week 9: Evaluation and Management (E and M) Guidelines (time-based coding, MDM)
Week 10: Surgery Guidelines Part 1 (Integumentary, Musculoskeletal Systems)
Week 11: Surgery Guidelines Part 2 (Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Digestive, Urinary Male, Female Systems)
Week 12: Anesthesia, Radiology, Pathology/Laboratory and Medicine
Week 13: HCPCS Level II (therapies, supply coding) and Modifiers
Week 14: CHUN Technique & CPT Applications (Circle, Highlight, Underline, Notate)
Week 15: AMCI Test-Taking Strategies (time management, multiple-choice test prep, practice questions)
Week 16: Final Review & Mock Exams (comprehensive review with AMCI-style rationales) and how to exam prep for the CPC and CCS-P
