Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Thursday 30th March 2023.
Current Situation:
A developing area of low pressure in the Atlantic is moving our way...
Today:
Thursday begins with showers or longer spells of rain through northern England, Wales and south west England. Elsewhere it's drier but there are showers in places.
Through the rest of the day we'll have a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers across much of the country. There could be hail and thunder mixed in with the heavier downpours but some places will miss them and stay dry. Later in the day more general cloud and rain with freshening winds will arrive in the far south west. A warm day with temperatures of 10C to 16C.
Tonight:
Heavy rain and strong winds pushes northwards across England and Wales with the heaviest rain and strongest winds for southern and southwestern regions. Gusts could reach 60-70MPH across the south coast by the end of the night. Central and northern regions should stay dry. A very mild night with temperatures of 5C to 11C.
Tomorrow
Starting very windy in the south with gales along the south coast. Wet weather for much of England and Wales which will turn more showery through the day. Some of the showers could be heavy and thundery in the south tomorrow afternoon. Further north the showers will be lighter and more scattered with many parts of Scotland probably staying dry. A cooler day with more of an easterly wind. Temperatures 7C to 13C which is about average for the end of March.
Outlook:
Saturday: Drier but rather cloudy with showery bursts in the south and west. Cool.
Sunday: Mostly dry but chilly.
Monday: Another many dry and bright day. Cool.
