Measuring and transferring an internal dimension is one of those jobs that’s prone to inaccuracy, especially when a ruler is used. A rule gives a good indication, but it’s not an exact method. A better way is to use a workshop made, adjustable ‘story stick’ which removes all the probable inaccuracies and results in a more precise measurement of the internal distance.
