Dr Rebecca Nisbet from The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health discusses her research project, where she developed new antibodies that target and neutralise the build-up of a toxic, dementia-causing protein called tau that forms between brain proteins. These antibodies have since been used by research groups worldwide in their quest to develop treatments for dementia.
This research is supported by:
The Alzheimer’s Australia Dementia Research Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship
The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health
Dr Nisbet would also like to acknowledge the research team:
Professor Jürgen Götz, Dr Rinie Bajrachary, David Brici, Alayna Caruso, Patricia Wongsodirdjo, and the past and present members of the Nisbet and Götz laboratories.
