In this family project managed by our cat Turtle, my son and I built this 8'x12' (2.6m x 4m) floating wall made of pallet wood. We collected the pallets, reclaimed the wood, organized and cleaned the wood and finally nailed it up.
I estimate we recycled about 30 pallets. The wall is 26 rows, 5 boards per row and about 5-6 usable boards per pallet. The wall is 3 sheets of 15/32 plywood mounted with 6 - 4" lag screws per panel (18 total) over top of 2"x3" spacers. I originally mounted the wood straight to the wall but then added the spacers so we can run wires behind it in the future for lights, TV, etc. It was also to do less damage to the wall should we change the decor in the future vs walls where you nail/glue it straight to the wall. We covered over the lower outlets but will add outlet extenders in the future.
