Are you trying to figure out how long your boat battery will last with your equipment on a full charge? Maybe you're shopping for a battery and trying to figure out what are CCA or cranking amps, what is battery reserve capacity and what are amp hours? What kind of marine battery should I be using? Is the higher the number on the battery the better?
In today's video, we'll cover the common terms used in the world of 12v batteries, what they mean and how they're calculated, and then show you how to use those numbers to figure out how long it will power your boat's equipment. By the end of the video, you'll know how to cut through the marketing clutter to know exactly what your battery can do. No more guessing, you'll know exactly how long your boat battery will last.
This is especially important for those of you with lighter craft, such as kayaks, canoes and inflatable boats where you're trying to keep things as light as possible, but want to make sure you have enough power to keep your gear running. I'll help you take the guesswork out of planning your battery setup and you'll know exactly how much power you can consume and for how long.

(¯`·._.· BATTERY SUGGESTIONS ·._.·´¯)
Here are my suggestions for lighter batteries if a full sized Group 29 or 31 battery is not an option for your setup:
● Mighty Max ML18-12 AGM Deep Cycle battery - [ Ссылка ] - This is one of the lightest trolling motor batteries around and it weighs 12lbs but has a low 18AH rating. This would last you a couple of hours if you only used it a little bit to give your arms a rest when rowing. Will power a fish finder for 12 hours.
● Mighty Max ML35-12 AGM Deep Cycle Battery - [ Ссылка ] - This is double the AH rating of the previous battery and weighs in at 23lbs. You can see how quickly the weight goes up as you increase capacity.
● The next size up is the Mighty Max ML55-12 AGM Deep Cycle battery - [ Ссылка ] - Double the rating again, but you increase the weight to 36 pounds, which is still very manageable compared to the standard models.
● My personal recommendation: It's hard to beat the quality and performance of Optima brand batteries, but these are a premium battery with the price to match. Check out the Optima 8027-127 D27M Deep Cycle battery - [ Ссылка ] - This has a 66AH rating and a reserve capacity of 140 minutes at 25 amps and get this, it only weighs 25 pounds!
If you have a high budget for a battery, then you can also look at Lithium Ion batteries. They will deliver the same amp hours as a full size battery, but only weight around 20 pounds! Here are 2 Lithium brands used by the pros:
