Welcome back, in this video, I'm showing how to make a door from solid wood with basic tools and standard dimensions for hardware.
Before you say having a panel saw or a drum sander isn't a basic tool let me say.
I made the same design door made of beech wood with 3 electric tools
A handheld router and a jig
Small green bosch table saw
and small orbital sander.
It did take some more preparations and time but trust me when I say you can make a door that will last a lifetime with just those 3 tools.
These doors are made from solid oak wood. jointed with floating tenon joinery. It is made of styles and rails type of construction with 3 panels in the middle.
I went with a traditional and simple design to fit the door for the place where they are installed now. It is like a wine cellar with a rustic feel made from the wooden ceiling that I made before I made the door and the stones on the wall.
I use AGB hinges which are very good and easy to use. I use PU wood glue which is very good for this type of joinery because it expands and can fill up all loose joints.
For a finish, I went with water-based acrylic varnish which is simple to apply, it dries very quickly without any odor. To save some money on the lumber I made jambs from segmented pieces which were glued into C form.
it took me around 4 days to complete everything.
I have many new videos in the making, some with my vivid imagination and unique design and some more traditional woodwork similar to this door where I'll show tips and tricks which you can use in your shop. Besides that, I have a new video review ready this time from ATOMSTACK a diode laser that you don't want to miss. A powerful laser that can be used for almost anything. The video coming up shortly.
Thank you for stopping by, and I appreciate all of your support. If you have any questionsfeel free to comment or reach out.
Take care!
