In this video, I do a page on grief that so many of us feel daily, especially during this time of year. I lay down dress pattern tissue just to get started when it's not easy to start. It's not a colorful page, but dreary and dank. It's the color of depression and maybe a little hope that we try so hard to hang on to. I recycle a used bubble mailer to represent how we ruminate (recycle) in our minds, again and again, the distressing situation. I think the quote is absolutely appropriate to how grief feels. It encompasses the confusion as to where to go next and how lost we can feel as to what to do next. Sometimes the answer is that we can't do anything. Which in that case can sometimes make our grief more intense and difficult to manage. I left in the confusion I had when constructing the quote I had cut out to further drive home how it feels to the brain to carry grief along with you on a daily basis.
If you feel lost, depressed, broken-hearted, and grief-stricken, you are not alone. Please tell someone and reach out for help. Things I've done to help: art journaling, writing (blogs, letters you don't send, lists, rants, I even have a dark journal I don't show...), talk therapy, morning pages, walking, yoga for trauma, medication if needed, tapping, extravagant lounging, tons of self-care, saying no, self-validation, good nutrition and healthy eating/cooking, hobbies, find an understanding friend, get involved with courses you find fun, educational, or anything you're curious about or anything you find joy in. Concentrate on YOU.
