A head constable of the Delhi Police was killed, and a Deputy Commissioner of Police was injured during clashes over the contentious citizenship law in northeast Delhi on Monday. The death occurred in Gokulpuri, which is a little over 2 kilometres from Moujpur where pro and anti-citizenship law groups clashed for second day. As the district continues to be on the boil, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal instructed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that law and order is maintained in North East Delhi. He urged people to exercise restrain. His appeal came after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged Baijal and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to restore law and order in the wake of violence.
