Consider this morning what is true compassion? How would we define true compassion? Is it merely feeling pity on someone? Is that compassion? Or does compassion require more than that? Does it require more than the giving of our tithes and offerings? What does it mean to have true compassion? The most compassionate person who ever lived, of course, was the Lord Jesus Himself. Remember his response to the hurting, whether it was the blind or deaf, the poor, to helpless, lame, the bereaved. In every situation imaginable. Jesus responded to those around him with true compassion. And He is our example. No matter how compassionate any other human may be, Jesus himself is our example. You and I have opportunities every day to respond to this world, as Jesus did. We are confronted daily with people who have needs, people who are hurting people who are desperate to receive some love and compassion.
