STORYLINE:
A car bomb targeting a police patrol killed two people and wounded 13 others in Baghdad on Sunday morning, police said.
A bomb in a parked car detonated as the patrol went by in Garage al-Amana neighbourhood, eastern Baghdad at 1015 (0515GMT).
One policeman was among the dead and five officers were injured.
The blast occurred near a church and a Iraqi Red Crescent building.
"A car bomb exploded here killing children and civilians and this is the bag of a child in the kindergarten," said an eyewitness.
Meanwhile, a mortar attack at the Ministry of Health building on Sunday morning caused damage to the compound.
Shrapnel holes were seen on the facade of the ministry.
Also on Sunday, a car bomb exploded next to an Iraqi army patrol in the Magrib neighbourhood of north Baghdad, killing two Iraqi soldiers and wounding two others, police said.
The blast set at least three civilian cars on fire.
A large crater could be seen at the place where the blast occurred.
US soldiers in humvees and US armoured vehicles patrolled the area.
On Saturday, in northern Beiji, about 250 kilometres (155 miles) north of Baghdad, gunmen threw the decapitated heads of ten Iraqi army soldiers into a popular open-air market, police said.
The decapitated heads were brought to the morgue of Tikrit teaching hospital.
