Flash floods have left a trail of destruction in Sikkim. Many people have died including 4 Army Personnel and over 100 are missing after a cloud burst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim...which triggered flash floods in the teesta river basin on Wednesday. Indian army has recovered three vehicles from the debris on the basin of Teesta river...These vehicles have been washed away by THE flash flood in Sikkim's Badrang...A massive search and rescue operation is underway. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has asked officials to stop issuing permits to tourists in popular destinations...Further added that Sikkim's Chungthang dam was washed away because of substandard construction. Meanwhile the centre approved release of both the installments of Central Share of State Disaster Response Fund to Sikkim, amounting to Rs 44.80 crore in advance.
