Brandy has been a major component of cocktails for their entire history. It was in fact one of the very first spirit being distilled in the United States, and some evidence suggests that it may even predate mainland Rum distillation by a few years. Given this fact, it's incredibly surprising to me that this spirit has been relegated to the obscure. Not only that, American Brandy took a huge backseat to Cognac and that's a crime. That's like losing our history. Well, I'm happy to announce that for this video we are sponsored by Argonaut Brandy, one of a handful of companies bringing back the American Brandy category as a serious contender next to whiskey and for my money, the company that really is leading the charge. For this video I thought it would be fun to look at the history of Brandy in Five cocktails and situate them historically. I hope you guys enjoy!
